valletta

dear diary, it´s me again.

yesterday we said, that we meet today at 9 o´clock, at the meeting point Giuseppe´s. then today, at 9, we decided to meet at 11, then at 10 we put our meeting to 1 o´clock in the afternoon. that´s why i was running today too. i don´t know what happened to me, usually i hate running.

so i met the others (15 others, it wasn´t planned, but everyone was there :) ) for going to the capital city, Valletta.

about 6000 people are living in Valletta, that´s not too much. Stefan, the german guy was our "guide". he has been here for one month now i think, so he knows everything (more than me). Valletta was founded in 1556 by the grandmaster Jean de la Valette. then he named the city that he founded after himself. (or after the place where he is from, we didn´t clarify that). Valletta is full of hills, sometimes the street nearly disappears, after that you have to climb up a lof of stairs. but it makes the city charming. and Valletta is part of the UNESCO World Heritage too.
The only thing we couldn´t visit is the cathedral, it was closed. according to Stefan it´s "only open for 2 hours per week", beacause he always tries to go in, but never can. and it isn´t simply called cathedral, it´s called co-cathedral, because it used to be the bishop´s seat.

we had lunch in the restaurant opposite of the co-cathedral. i had some pasta with mushrooms and tomato. maltese are good in italian food. aaand, i drank black tea with milk. and i liked it. i don´t know if i´m growing up, but i like stuff, that i´m not used to.

and, the carnival started. a lot of small princesses, lions, tigers, knights, batmen filled the streets in the early afternoon. later there were adults too. and a big orchestra of clowns too :) i couldn´t see the pattern of when they are playing music, and where they are going, or not going. but it´s Malta, not Germany, and i love it. then we lost some people in the crowd, but everyone is a more or less grown adult, and i was not lost, so i think it´s not a very bad thing...

on the bus back to St. Julians we were like little herrings in a tin. we decided to go to the cinema. the girls voted for 50 shades of grey. and it was Natalya´s last day, so we went to that movie. don´t ever watch it! i shouldn´t have watch it neither. bad bad bad idea.
