every summer has to end

so, the summer is over now. i've done sooo many things, i've seen so many things, i've been to the US, and then to Malta, i've met lovely people, i've seen the most beautiful landscapes, i've learned so much and i've made experiences which i never imagined. a summer with a lots of first times. and i've enjoyed every second of it.

every day is a school day

that might be true, but not for me. it was my last day today, and i had to say a lot of goodbyes, which wasn't easy. but we took some photos, and i took a lot more photos with my heart, so, now i have there new photos, not only the old ones :)

fortunately there is a lot more to learn, today's test showed, that i have to work on a lot of things, my english is not bad, and is improving, but not nearly as good as i wish. so, i can come back.

and fortunately i didn't manage to go to Popeye Village, and i haven't been to Comino yet, so, Malta, i'm not done with you.

oh, and today's greatest news: this time i survived the thought experiment, the one with the bunker :) thank you guys!

and we were on a boat party tonight. it was a real party on a real boat, with a lot of people, was fun, (and i think i reached my limit of electro for a while now :) )

be polite

there is a polite way to say if somebody is old: he or she is kicking 30 :) (in a few years i might change this extremely big number to a bigger one.)

and arguing about stupid little things ends up in someone saying bullshit, or something that could be even worse, so people in the world, please, don't argue.

and the best way to practise phone calls is to sit with our backs towards each other, so we can't see each other while speaking, like in a real phone call, just without phones :)
so school was great today, i really enjoyed every second of it :)

but the most fascinating i did today was to visit the ancient temples, Hagar Qim and Mnajdra. it's simply impossible to imagine that they have been built 5-6-7000 years ago. i can't imagine how the world was before i was born (probably black and white?)

an apple a day

i woke up early today, and without alarm. that's great and sad at the same time, but that's an other story, and i've learned my lesson... the school was full of the new students today, lots of swiss and polish students.

the weather changed completely, it feels like autumn now (still 30 degrees).

we had brownies for dinner, with vanilla ice cream, best decision ever :) and i'm going to eat today's apples tomorrow, i couldn't buy any nice apples in the morning. and i'm falling asleep right now, even after 4 coffees today :)

no school today

so we spent a long long day travelling to the northern end of the island, to the paradise bay. there we jumped few times with the waves, and decided to relax. then everyone fell asleep at the beach :) so, no Popeye Village today...

after the beach we took the bus to the Golden Bay, to watch the most romantic sunset. but this time we couldn't hear the hot sun fizzling while falling into the sea. it just disappeared behind the clouds. it must be some kind of magic... :)

cliffs and jumping

there are some cliffs you have to jump off in your life. and i jumped. and not only once yesterday.

the wind changed yesterday (no wind --> wind) and we had a nice trip to Marsaxlokk, and to St. Peter's Pool, to the amazing beach. and when i say amazing, you have to imagine it, and not simply amazing, but amazingamazing.
and now today's plans are just waiting for us, let the adventure begin :)

prickly pears 2

prickly pears on bucket list marked as checked :) and marked as tasty :)

we spent our day on Gozo today. the Azure Window is still amazing, and imagine me, looking at the beautiful blue sea and the beautiful blue sky... now i have no doubts that blue is my favourite colour (i never had any doubts, but if i had, they would be blown away today). aand, this time we found the way to the citadel :) so another must-be-done-this-time item is done now. and finally we went to the Ramla Bay, to the sandy beach with red sand. now i only have one more wish, Malta, please show me a beach with blue sand, and you'll win my heart for ever.

oysters, clams and cockles

i've just had my first oysters!!! and it wasn't even that bad :) i never thought i'm going to try them, but i did :) yesss, i did :) and the waiter was very kind and packed the shell for me in a little bag. hmmm, that was the only kind thing he did tonight, but now i'm the proudest owner of an oyster-shell :)

today's test was quite difficult, but we all mastered it, of course :)

i took some photos today, okay, not some, exactly two, because i forget to put the memory card back into the camera (again... 3rd time this week... what's wrong with you, girl?) so i need a cable to get these two photos (of the oyster) to here, and of course i don't have one.

and we had a wine tasting today too, exactly like in february :) and again, the first wine was the best. but i'm not an expert, maybe next time i'll be grown up enough for a less sweet wine. or not.

prickly pears

they are on my bucket list. the prickly pear icecream is definitely not going to be my favourite, but the real fruit deserves a second chance. like everybody else.

we had a nice trip to Valletta today, with the school, and with a guide. and now we know, that maltese are not feeling arabian, neither italian, nor british, they're feeling maltese :) and we learned a lot of interesting things about the knights of saint john.

and we had a lovely school dinner today too. the pasta was good, and the waiter was a beginner :) i didn't learn today anything for the test tomorrow, but i'm sure i'll learn tomorrow at breakfast, and then hope for the best :) (i actually learned the new words yesterday, so i'm not a that bad student)

and a zebra is a zebra, not a z-i-bra.

and i got a message today from Eda. and i'm happy now, and i love you too sweetheart :)

i've just noticed that one

does it count...

...if i've met someone who met the Queen? i hope so, because that's what happened today.

we've just arrived back from Mdina, it's still soo beautiful. and still very silent. we had a bus drive there that took one and a half hour, or even more. i stopped checking the time at a point. but we're on holiday, so fortunately nobody had to hurry :) we had a delicious indian dinner in mdina, with lovely french accordion music :) and i decided to like indian food. and to like the accordion further on.

oh, and we discussed some interesting questions today at school, so, never pour water on hot or already burning oil! but that's something i already knew... but i didn't know, that i shouldn't open my eyes while sneezing, unless i want them to pop out and rolling around... (noway, i like my eyes)

clogs.

do you always get blisters or swollen feet after a day of working hard, or just walking around? are you suffering from back ache after a day spent in the office? then check out our brandnew shoes, clogs. innovative, medically approved and available in several different colours and styles. if god would wear shoes, it would be clogs.  :) and, check out our clig-clogs in the online shop too!

aaand, arriving on time for a blind date isn't considered to be important. it's enough to be fashionable to win his or her heart. (you know, because of first impressions, 30 seconds, instincts and things like that)

swimming in the sea: 3/3 :)

O'malleys, the alley cats

i don't think there are any dogs in malta. and i've never heard stories about cats biting girls, especially in malta, so i feel pretty safe here :)
we did the placement test today at school (c1 this time :)), then we had two lessons. and wisdom teeth are wisdom teeth in english too. in the afternoon there was a welcome party, on the roof. i'm soo happy being here again, the important ones do remember me :)
there are a lot of polish students here right now, and germans and italians too, and this time there's a hungarian girl too :)

we were at the beach after school, and today i had no problems to open my eyes under water. yesterday the sea felt more salty, or my eyes got used to it now :) but my eyes aren't used to that much coffee i drank today... lesson learnt. (or learned?)

the last one, for Julian :)

So, here I am, at home again, after 2+2 weeks of Malta. And it was amazing!
But, there are some important things you should know before you decide to go there... First of all, Malta is minute (this is one of the new words, I learned there, so be aware, your English might improve :)), and maybe that´s why I often had the feeling, that people know me... they were smiling at me on the streets :) then I smiled back :) And Maltese drive on the wrong side of the road. Try to keep this in mind, now you think it´s impossible, I thought it too, and now I have my problems with crossing a road at home too.
Back to Malta... if you´re new there, explore the island with the Hop-on-hop-off bus, it´s fun. But don´t hop off everywhere, you can always go back to the beautiful places with the public transport, and with your classmates from school. Your classmates and other students will be your new "family" there. You can go everywhere with them. For example to Gozo, Malta´s sister island. Gozo is even smaller than Malta. You can see ancient temples, or the amazing Azure Window. Make sure your phone is fully charged or you have enough batteries for your camera. We had a taxi for ourselves, and the driver was an excellent guide. Or you can visit the old capital of Malta, Mdina. I was there three times. Or the new capital, Valletta, four times... :) The carnival was fascinating, everyone was wearing costumes, the little princesses, spidermen, batmen, lions were the cutest :) Don´t miss the tour to the Three Cities, organized by the school, and guided by Mariella. And go to the Golden Bay for the most romantic sunset in your life. Take your boyfriend too, and if you don´t have a boyfriend, just grab a random guy... no. no random guys. And if you´re in an adventurous mood, you can walk from the Dingli Cliffs to the Blue Grotto. And if you want to have even more fun, you simply can get lost, like we did :) And please, learn a lot of adjectives, because if you don´t, you can´t describe what you´ve seen. You´ll need more than beautiful and wonderful. Learn better adjectives :)
Okay, learning... there is this language school too. Which one? This one. I learned so much there, not too much grammar (but trust me, learning grammar on Malta is better than learning grammar anywhere else :) ), but real language, "functional language". You´ll hear this term, if you have Paul as a teacher. If you are more lucky than me, you could survive a nuclear war in a bunker. I wasn´t lucky enough. And don´t miss any pronunciation course of Katrin, she´s the one with red hair, and she can write these little phonetic symbols fluently (write fluently?). And if you´re there, please, please give Toni a hug, it´s from me. And if you have someone else as a teacher, don´t be afraid, i met them all on activities, dinners, they are okay too... ;)
Dinners? Yes, every week you can go on a dinner, with all the other students, and with some teachers. It´s the best opportunity to make new friends. And sign up to other activities too. I was at the laser tag, I just can say, wow. I was not good at it... but that doesn´t matter. It was the first time in my life, but not the last. Or you can go to a winery, I can tell you, the white wine is the best :) By the way, it´s Julian, who organises theese all. Thank you Julian :)
And thank you all, dear Maltalingua-Team, for this incredibly great month :)

charge your phone, girl!

it was late yesterday as i finally got to the hotel. i planned to wake up early, maybe at 8 or 9 o´clock, then i pack my luggage, check out of the hotel at 11, go for a walk, buy some souvenirs, then take the taxi at 12, and leave for my flight... that was the plan.

but as i woke up, and realized, that it´s half past 10, my plan changed immediately. and my plan changed again, as the taxi driver showed up at 11 at the hotel, while i was checking out... so i drank my coffe at the airport. and i bought the souvenirs at the airport. and i spent 3 hours at the airport. but i didn´t miss my flight :)

i arrived at Zürich without any other distructions. too much people here (all Malta could live in Zürich). and my phone gave up. i wrote two messages, so the important ones knew i arrived. and i could check the adress where i should go, and then nothing. the phone refused to do anything. not even a peep. but i found my friend´s house easily, of course... try to pull your suitcases many kilometers on an uneven way, your fingers will go dead. today´s lesson learned. for ever.

and now i don´t know what to say, or how... and while i´m trying, i can´t see anymore, so i stop trying now.
goodbye Malta, i´m definitely coming back. i already have my flight tickets in my heart :)
and goodbye Maltalingua :)
and goodbye everyone :)
i love you too ;)

nuclear war and grammar auction

this was the perfect day for a last day. only the test wasn´t soo exciting (45/48).
but after the test, everyhing was fantastic :) we had to hide in a bunker, because of a nuclear war. but the bunker was too small, only big enough for 6 people, and we were 12 in the class, which is not the best situation. i crossed my fingers not to become a cook this time, so i became a fashion designer... that is much better than a cook. a fashion designer with leader skills. to demonstarate these skills i tried to organize the voting. i was not bad at it. but it didn´t seem to be convincing enough... so i tried to be pretty, and beatuiful, and tall... and more... but nothing helped. they would have let me die... me, the perfect woman....
but there is still hope in this world, in real life i would have survived, the elementary school math teacher got the most votes :) so, alive or dead, i enjoyed the game.
and in the afternoon we played grammar auction. and guess who won? yes, it was me :) so two cool games for my last day :)
aaaand, the sun is shining. not permanently, but there was only a little bit rain today. maybe the sky is sad because of my last day too...

wine tasting

yes, i drank some wine. not a lot, only a bit. the winery is full of barrels, as expected. and the man there showed us, what the grape has to go through, to finally get into the bottle.
we could taste three different wines, a white, a pink one, and a beautiful deep red. i liked the white.
one of our teacher had an observer today. she was a bit nervous, but now i know in which order i should use adjectives, if i have to, or i want to use more, not only one. and the whole day we were shouting to each other things like: "he´s hungry. hungry? he´s absolutely starving!" because now we know how. the whole day :) it was like an insider joke, but then we explained it, and the outsider got inside too.
tomorrow is my last test, last day, last dinner. i have my flight ticket printed. so now i´m coming home. not like last time, when i stayed two more weeks instead. so mom, dad, Ger, miss me now a bit please :)

distopia

today´s topic: villains. we almost didn´t mention heros. and Barney Stinson was Dr Horrible today.
in the afternoon we visited the three cities as a school activity. but not a random three cities, the three opposite of Valletta. the knights founded these cities. they came to malta and went to Rhodes to fight for christianity. there they lost a battle, and came back to Malta. and here they won a battle against the turkish army. so they were happy, and because of this happiness in 1565, they founded Valletta in 1566, but that´s an other story.
and we´ll go for a dinner, organised by the school (yes, a school activity again, great job Julian :) ) so we´ll go to gulululu (how much lu-s?) i was told, that this is a restaurant, where you an eat traditional maltese food. so i could eat a rabbit, if i want. or some parts of some rabbits..
